HISTORY

Old small farm, Rieucourt is located at approximately 60 km of the airport of Toulouse Blagnac. This little place of countryside profits from a monastic calm at 20 km from Albi and is with less than 2 km of the village of Briatexte, below.

The bastide of Briatexte was based in 1287 by Simon de Briseteste, seneschal of Carcassonne, for king Philippe le Bel, in the place of the Cathar village of Touelles, destroyed by the troops of Simon de Montfort, in 1212. This bastide short story had to thwart her neighbour of Saint-Gauzens.

Perched on a small hill in front of the Pyrenees mountains, it took 8 months of study and the help of the local artisans and more than 10 months of works to enlarge this rural group settlement with the comfort of the XXIth century while respecting the architecture, the materials and naturally the know-how of the artisans.

We paid a particular attention on the decoration so that this one is also in keeping with the architecture and the character of its occupants. We also looked for to highlight the spirit of tranquillity and conviviality which inspires the house.

ACTIVITIES

Take advantage of your stay to visit Albi, episcopal town, Castres, Gaillac, its bastides and its vineyard and why not Cordes sur ciel. All these cities can be the object of a visit during the day.

But beyond these cities, there is also to discover the small villages, some among the most beautiful of France: Lautrec, Monestiés, Castelnau de Montmirail and naturally Puycelsi.

You can also practise the golf (there are several practices including one near Fiac), horse riding, tree escalation called "accrobranche", ….

There is also a big market every Saturday morning in the centre of Lavaur (15km). For the children, there are several activities near: quite close (1km), one farm where they can fetch eggs or goat's milk  and also discover the culture and the vineyard, in Carmaux Cap discovery Park.
